About Chad Syverson

I grew up in Fargo and Grand Forks, North Dakota. I left because I could not stand the congestion (see picture below).

North Dakota Life in the Vast Lane

Before I left, though, I did my undergraduate studies (in mechanical engineering and economics) at the University of North Dakota.  I'm still a big UND sports fan--especially football.  The Sioux were the NCAA Division II national champions in 2001 and runners-up in 2003.

Graduate work was at the University of Maryland, with a fellowship at the Brookings Institution during my final year before heading to Chicago.

My wife Genaya and I live with our four children in the finest neighborhood (humble apologies to my colleagues in Hyde Park) on Chicago's South Side: Beverly.
